Children and BVD Ebola
🚸Children can get BVD. They are at risk because they have close physical contact with others and may not be able to recognize or report their own symptoms.
Symptoms in children include:
- Sudden fever
- Tiredness and loss of energy
- Loss of appetite
- Vomiting and diarrhoea
- Rash
If a child develops ANY of these symptoms suddenly — 📞CALL [XXXX] IMMEDIATELY. Do not wait. In children, illness can worsen very quickly. 🤒
Vomiting or diarrhea — even just one of these, even without the other — can be dangerous, especially for children. Do not wait for both. Do not treat it at home. Go to the facility immediately.
If a child stops eating or refuses food, this is also a warning sign on its own — even without vomiting or diarrhea. Take them to be checked.
⚠️ CRITICAL INFORMATION FOR CAREGIVERS:
A parent or primary caregiver CAN accompany a young child admitted to the treatment centre👨🏾👧🏾.
Fear of separation is one of the main reasons parents delay bringing children for care — and this costs children their lives. You must share this information with every parent and caregiver in your community.
