Survivor Reintegration and Stigma

Survivors face stigma and exclusion after recovering from BVD. This is harmful, dangerous, and wrong ⚠️.

Facts about survivors:

  • A survivor cleared by health authorities is NOT contagious and is NOT a danger to the community.
  • After recovery, survivors may experience ongoing health effects 🩺(fatigue, headaches, vision problems, joint pain, hearing loss, depression). They need continued medical follow-up.
  • Male survivors are advised to use condoms consistently until semen tests confirm the virus is absent — health staff will provide guidance.
