What are the symptoms of BVD?
Symptoms appear 2 to 21 days after exposure. They include:
⌚EARLY SYMPTOMS (appear suddenly):
- Fever (sudden) 🤒
- Fatigue and extreme weakness
- Muscle pain
- Sore throat
- Loss of appetite
- Abdominal pain
- Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Most people with this illness do NOT bleed. Don’t wait to see blood before you believe it’s serious — by then it may be too late
If you or a patient has ANY of the early symptoms above — visit nearest health facility IMMEDIATELY. Waiting for bleeding before calling costs lives!
BVD symptoms look similar to malaria, typhoid, and dengue at first. Only a laboratory test 🧪 can confirm BVD. This is why calling the hotline and going for testing is essential — do not attempt to diagnose at home.
