Self-Care and Managing Your Own Mental Health & Well-being

As a health worker, you may be experiencing more stress and challenges than normal during the pandemic. You might be working longer, caring for family, fearing for your and their well-being and seeing more deaths. Taking care of yourself is important for your physical & mental health. It can also help you take better care of those around you.

Some helpful things to include in your routine might be:

  1. Take time to regularly connect and talk to your colleagues and friends outside of work. Share with them how you are doing and feeling;
  2. be physically active, such as taking a walk or biking;
  3. celebrate your successes;
  4. make time to do things you enjoy or that are meaningful/ satisfying;
  5. seek support if you have strong feelings of distress;
  6. get enough sleep;
  7. eat well e.g. have enough fruit and vegetables.
