Are there any signs I should look out for?
Parents must remember that not all children are the same, and if unsure your 5 years old child is making progress, ask for advice should you repeatedly observe the following:
- Does not show a wide range of emotions
- Shows extreme behaviours
- Unusually withdrawn and not active
- Easily distracted and unable to focus on one activity for 5 minutes
- Does not respond to people
- Cannot tell what’s real and what’s not
- Does not play a variety of games and activities
- Cannot give first and last name
- Does not use plurals and past tense properly
- Does not talk about daily activities or experiences
- Does not draw pictures
- Cannot brush teeth, wash & dry hands or get undressed without help
